ok, that is funny!

Off to my weekly Spartacus watch party to catch Friday's episode, then we can discuss the review.

(hope it has more good scenes like last week!)

no bathtub scene this week....how disappointing.

I was sad to see the kid go, but he wasnt going to survive much longer.

This episode left me with a lot of questions, but the main one I suppose is whether blondie is going to give in to her obvious attraction to spartacus, and what in the blazes is lucy going to do when she finds out her slave is pregnant by her.....ummmm...what's the word I am looking for that will not get me banned...... her "boyfriend" yeah, lol.

Andy Whitfield, the star of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" on Starz, has been diagnosed with cancer.

Whitfield, 38, will begin treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma immediately. The cancer was discovered during a checkup and is in its early stages; because of that, his doctors say it's "very treatable."

"I'm receiving excellent care, and am feeling strong, positive and determined with an army of support behind me," Whitfield says in a statement.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy," Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht says. "His health, of course, is our primary concern. He has our complete support during this difficult time."

Whitfield was about to begin production on the second season of "Spartacus"; the show will delay filming during his treatment.

The show's first season concludes on April 16

Is my face red or what???

I did not (nor did my Spartacus Watch Party friends) realize Crixis and the slave did not "have a little fun"when the fertility "specialist" was in town.

That blows my theory of her (Lucretia, aka Lucy) killing the slave for becoming pregnant by her "boyfriend." (after she had the baby, of course)

We really read a lot in to that kiss. But then again, that was some kiss.

As for tonight's episode, I think we all learned a valuable lesson: don't mess with the brothers. yikes.

Way late on this discussion, as my wife and I just got to the DVR'd episodes this weekend.

If I watch this show as something more like a sword-fantasy flick on the caliber of Beastmaster (the movie, not the TV show), I can bear it.

That said as a historian, I see history and its legends and myths as entertaining on their own accord without having to spice everything up.  That is part of the reason I have hated every version of Beowulf yet made.  The debauchery does not mince well with well attestede social commentaries from the period.

So as a show fine.  As anything remotely historic, a total dud.

Yep, Rich, we already established that, lol.

I don't know how far along you are, but it is addicting. The last two episodes left me quite speechless, no small feat.

The actual events in the last two were not completely unexpected, you knew they were coming, it was in the WAY they happened that left us completely exhausted at the end.

I mean, I think I yelled at the TV a couple of times and everything.

The last episode was a bit much at one point ... when Crixus wins the Primus, and his opponents insides were pouring out the front of him via his wound ... that was over-the-top graphic and (IMHO) really unnecessary other than some special effects people wanted to show they could do it ... it added NOTHING to the scene, but detracted from it.

I do really enjoy the show and the story ... but, sometimes the graphic violence/wounds/blood is WAY too much.

I agree, Allen, but I'm usually hiding my eyes under the covers during those moments, lol!

Yeah, it wore me out ... sad to see some of the characters "gone" ... there will need to be an entirely new storyline with a LOT of new cast and characters for next season.  And, again ... just because you can be so explicitly gross doesn't mean you should ... but, I still enjoyed the season.

The new storyline is the historic one which is the movements of the Third Servile War.  Historically, Crixus was still a dumb ass.
